Description

The province of Jaén once again celebrates the Cruces de Mayo (May Crosses), one of the most deeply rooted spring traditions in our region. On the first weekend of May, numerous towns put up their floral crosses in streets, courtyards and squares, turning the urban landscape into a festive trail where popular creativity, devotion and community life all come together.

In cities such as Jaén, Úbeda, Baeza and Andújar, the crosses have become established as a cultural and tourist attraction. Associations, brotherhoods and community groups compete to put on the most elaborate displays, dominated by geraniums, ivy-leaved geraniums and traditional decoration. In many cases, these spaces are accompanied by music, pop-up bars and side activities that keep the atmosphere lively throughout the day.
