The town of Andújar is located at the foot of Sierra Morena, constituting the entrance door by anthonomasia to the Natural Park of its same name. Because Andújar is a saw, Andújar is the Guadalquivir river that bathes it and divides it between the oaks and pedestals to the north and the sodomy countryside to the south.
Andújar is a monumental city, rich in heritage and emblem of a typical architecture that demonstrates a high past. Among its most prominent monuments are the famous church of San Miguel, whose bell tower stands out over the city's urban landscape. This Gothic church has the peculiarity of being the only religious temple that was previously linked to the bishopric of Toledo in the province of Jaén, while the rest of the municipalities were attached to Baeza.
Next to this church we can find a large presence of religious buildings such as the church of San Bartolomé, the church of Santa Marina, as well as ancient convents and crafts buildings. Another of the architectural jewels of Andújar is its own City Hall, which, located in the historic centre, stands out for its constructive strength and its imposing plant.
Special mention deserves the Sanctuary of the Virgin of the Head, a great rock sanctuary located in the heart of Sierra Morena, where much of the Sierra is seen from its privileged location. It is a place of pilgrimage famous for its rosemary and its great cultural and ethnographic value.
As for civilian buildings, Andújar still retains magnificent wall diapers that extend over much of its old layout, including several surveillance towers and remains of access doors to the old urban recital. It must not fail to visit its bridge of Roman origin, which, with more than 310 meters in length and 14 eyes, is a magnificent example of this type of structure, having been used in its construction of red limestone silery from the neighbouring town of Marmolejo.
But, if for nothing is famous the town of Andújar is, by its Natural Park, that, with an extension over 74,000 hectares is the best example of Mediterranean forest on the Iberian peninsula. Among its loins and valleys, there are many species, including the Iberian Lince, which here retains its best population, the Imperial Eagle or the Black Vulture. A lot of companies offer guided tours inside the park, who knows... maybe you'll find our big cat?

Whatever the time of the year, it is recommended to wear comfortable shoes and suitable clothes including some coat since at night the temperature is low, even in summer.
But above all we recommend you come with a great desire to enjoy and learn a lot.
