Description
On 9 May, Aldeaquemada holds the 5th edition of the Banquets of Charles III, an event inviting visitors to travel back in time to rediscover the traditions, flavours and spirit of that Enlightenment-era colonisation. The town relives its past through a great banquet reviving recipes and produce typical of the 18th century, many of which are still present in local gastronomy. It is an experience combining history, culture and cuisine, offering a sensory understanding of the mark Charles III left on this part of Andalusia.
Aldeaquemada thus becomes a space where memory is celebrated around the table, where visitors discover customs that have endured — such as the tradition of painting Easter eggs — and where every dish tells a fragment of the history that shaped these lands. A gathering that honours this Enlightenment legacy and invites people to enjoy, learn and savour the past in a festive, welcoming atmosphere.
