Every spring, Linares brings its past back to life with the Cástulo Festivities, a celebration featuring a spectacular historical re-enactment, complemented by a full programme of activities that immerse the "mining city" and the Cástulo Archaeological Site in the Ancient World and its Ibero-Roman past.

A programme of shows organised by the Provincial Council as part of the Journey Back to Iberian Times. Its cultural offerings take place at various sites along the route, boosting tourism at these archaeological sites, which hold a rich archaeological heritage.

One of the most representative flamenco singing competitions in Spain. Every year, the Linares National Tarantas Competition draws ever more people and better performers — not only established flamenco artists, but also promising young singers.

Linares holds its fair in the last week of August, coinciding with the feast of its patron saint, San Agustín. It is one of the most important festivals in Spain, both for its bullfighting side — paying annual tribute to the bullfighter Manolete, fatally gored by a bull during these festivities — and for the cultural, sporting and leisure activities held over these days.

Linares hosts a prestigious guitar competition every year, bringing together participants from all over the world, which confirms its impact both nationally and internationally.

This is one of the province's longest-running tapas routes. The quality on offer has spread its fame across the whole province, making it a champion of local gastronomy and an important tourist and commercial product.

In the first week of December, the city of Linares celebrates the feast of Santa Bárbara, patron saint of miners. A very special celebration that highlights the mining heritage of the Comarca Norte de Jaén, one of the most important in the country.

This programme brings together a wide range of activities held at various historic sites across the province of Jaén during the summer period. A cultural and leisure tourism offering that complements the province's other tourist resources.

The Paseo de Linarejos will host the exhibitors' area of this fair, where olive oil companies will showcase their season's first oils to the public, who will be able to sample and buy them. This exhibition area will be complemented by an intense programme of activities, including breakfasts featuring toast with early-harvest oil, gastronomic tastings, extra virgin olive oil tastings, guided tours of Linares and its main tourist attractions, as well as musical performances, hiking routes and activities aimed at children, among many others.

The Jaén First Oil Festival will then move, the following weekend, from 10 to 12 November, to the central Plaza de los Fueros, in Vitoria (Álava).

With dances and stalls held over several days.
