In this territory unfolds a journey that combines nature, culture and gastronomy. Among hills and olive groves, medieval castles reclaim their memory through reenactments and visits that help bring key episodes of history to life.
The route runs through the western part of the province and brings together fortresses set on strategic hilltops. It is one of the areas with the highest concentration of castles in Europe, and the setting of two decisive battles: Bailén and Las Navas de Tolosa.
The itinerary invites you to experience the land from different perspectives: hiking, cycling along the Vía Verde del Aceite, extra virgin olive oil tastings, visits to livestock farms or routes through the natural parks. In the mountains, bird watching and the chance to spot the Iberian lynx round off the experience.
The route also connects with the mining heritage of Linares–La Carolina, the Nuevas Poblaciones founded under Charles III, and the deeply rooted tapas culture of this land. It is an authentic, peaceful and well-connected destination, halfway between Madrid and Seville.
