It begins to become familiar with the carpentry trade and to appreciate the most traditional, cultural and historical aspects of this artisan work since very small. After completing his training in Fine Arts at the "Alonso Cano" faculty in Granada, he continues to carry out numerous courses to train and investigate all the entrenches of his artisan activity, specializing in mudejar crafts and thus becoming a national and international reference in the field of historical wooden decks.
After founding Mudéjares Crafts in 2000, he is appointed Master Crafts by the Board of Tourism, Trade and Sport of Andalusia in 2011. He has been able to transmit his knowledge and experience in the field of research and restoration through different courses and conferences, advice to architectural studies, as well as his teaching work as a teacher of mudejar carpentry at the Albayzin Centre in Granada. Their respect for the environment, a scrupulous selection of wood, as well as their deep knowledge and experience in this trade, make each of their creations truly exclusive and of the highest quality, hand-carved and impregnated by the personality of their author. Circumstances that have led to the opening of important branches of Mudéjar Crafts in America or the Middle East, as well as to obtain numerous awards and mentions.
Among his works are the manufacture of the craftsmen of the Alcázar de Toledo or the Old Station of Córdoba in Seville, the construction of the Mudejar sonados for the Museum of Historical Memory, the restoration of the craftsmen of the Church of Santa María de Vélez Málaga or the Colegiata de Santa María de los Reales Alcázares de Úbeda, as well as other works of a particular nature carried out in mansions of the United States or Spain, or for hotels and restaurants of the world.
In a very marked and personal style, in 2012, the Junta de Andalucía gave him the letter of Master Artesano, and is that his constancy to keep almost intact a trade of old, as well as his commitment to the production of artworks of great value, have made his artistic manifestations a great national and international recognition. He works with his brother Paco, also artisan and with a dilat and successful experience, with whom he creates excellent synergies from which his most valued articles emerge.
They are the sixth generation dedicated to the craft of the artistic forge and they treasure a workshop that has been declared by the Junta de Andalucía as Punto de Interés Artesanal, a space that hosts various activities related to the forge, a magnificent tourist option for the visitors of the town and an excellent teaching alternative for the students of the area.
Pepe and Paco still retain the most traditional techniques in the preparation of their articles, although without losing the current trend. Its designs, all of their own and exclusive, stand out for their personality, originality and quality, as well as for being unique parts in the market. They have collaborated with numerous exhibitions and exhibitions of crafts, reaching to perform outstanding works at national and international level such as the National Paradores of Cambados, Carmona, Granada, Jaén, Plasencia or Cádiz or other collaborations in Brussels, Ireland, Japan, Nice or New Mexico. These artisan brothers, with a strong Renaissance tendency, also actively collaborate in the conservation of the cultural heritage of Andalusia with many works of restoration of great prestige.
In a workshop whose history is closely related to the ubetense pottery and declared by the Junta de Andalucía as Punto de Interés Artesanal, Alfonso develops his work as a craftsman creating pieces of high artistic quality. In its effort to cherish this family legacy, in its work space it still retains an Arab oven as well as original objects and with years of history, in addition to the utensils used for its elaboration, which can be enjoyed through a programme of guided routes the city.
Its creations, with a clear traditional influence, are made in a artisanal but adapted way, in terms of color, decoration and design, to modern currents, incorporating new techniques such as high temperature, crystallization or raku, as well as new materials such as gress or porcelain. A complex fusion between the past and the present that results in artistic work of great value.
Pablo TITO is the third generation of artisan potters in his family. His desire to learn led him from a very small point of view to become familiar with a trade that has now become his livelihood. In its workshop, located in a unique building whose origins go back to the XV-XVI centuries and declared by the Junta de Andalucía Punto de Interés Artesanal, is the Museo de la Alfarería Paco Tito Memorio de lo Cotidiano, where it exposes some of the clay creations that grow in its Arab oven, perfectly preserved and in use, being one of the few that exist in Spain in operation. It works the traditional ubetense ceramics, producing fully artisan products such as alcuzas, dishes, lebrellos, etc., in addition to other decorative objects such as sculptures in real size or exclusive pieces created from the synergy between different materials such as mud, silver or bronze, and which have led it to create together with the well-known Ferrádiz jewelers their own signature of accessories "De Barro and Plata."
It works closely with other artisans or designers. Many of his decorative or restoration works look in restaurants in Cancun or London.
After completing his design studies at the School of Art in Granada, Melchor decided to join, together with his father, the family pottery workshop located on the mythical street Valencia de Ubeda, artisan area and pottery. A workshop that dates from the Arab time of the city (before 1234) and is now almost the same, even with the three impressive Spanish-Arab ovens. One of them, the one used by Melchor Tito for the cooking of its most special creations, may be the oldest and largest operating oven in all of southern Europe, as it is prior to the year 1234.
It brings together a pottery of the most traditional, respecting the techniques and forms of its ancestors and with a clear Arab influence in terms of design, colors and finishes. Of the highest quality, its pieces are unique and exclusive, thus ensuring the authenticity of Melchor Tito's pottery.
