Summer in Jaén hosts this interesting and original programme bringing together music, distinctive venues and carefully chosen gastronomy, all under one umbrella. An air of mystery surrounds each date too, since although the audience knows which performance or musical act will feature on any given day, they don't know which corner of the city it will be held in. On arrival, they discover a pleasant setting where they can enjoy a tapa or gourmet treat before the performance begins.

Known as the "feria chica" (little fair), this celebration of religious origin fills the iconic San Ildefonso neighbourhood of the capital with lanterns and outdoor café tables. Concerts, theatre and various cultural events usually round out the festive programme.

This event is usually held in March and involves dozens of restaurants from across the province's various regions, who prepare special dishes and menus that typically showcase products bearing the "Degusta Jaén" quality seal as their star ingredients.

The International Festival of Music, Dance and Folk Songs, better known as Folk del Mundo, is one of the oldest summer events in the province of Jaén, bringing together folklore from other cultures.

Year after year, Jaén brings together thousands of hunters at one of the region's largest fairs dedicated to hunting. It is, in fact, one of the Spanish provinces with the most land available for hunting and fishing.

This festival has established itself as one of the capital's major cultural events, spanning classical music, dance, flamenco and theatre, as well as an interesting range of complementary activities.

Nature tourism, culture, gastronomy, shows, sport and active leisure are the pillars of this fair, held at the Provincial Fair and Conference Centre. This event, a pioneer in placing our region at the forefront of inland tourism, has established itself as the best showcase for promoting the rich heritage found throughout the province of Jaén.

In mid-October, Jaén celebrates its Patron Saint Festivities in honour of San Lucas. For a week, the city fills with life and fun, the perfect time to enjoy music, theatre, activities for children and bullfighting events. A highlight is the so-called Feria de Día in the Old Town, which includes an exhibition of the popular “chilindrinas” — humorous, satirical caricatures depicting anecdotes involving Jaén's politicians.

The great festival of early-harvest oils. Its aim is simply to promote them. An event to enjoy and savour the finest EVOOs of the province, some of which top world rankings. This celebration is complemented by a broad and varied programme of leisure and festive activities.

This is one of the most popular celebrations in the capital. On 25 November, a pilgrimage climbs the Cerro de Santa Catalina to honour the city's co-patron saint, Santa Catalina de Alejandría, whose chapel is located in one of the towers of the Castle. On this day, religious events go hand in hand with a culinary tradition in which grilled sardines take centre stage. The surrounding area fills with stalls and bars where this hugely popular fish is served alongside rice dishes, migas, cured meats, kebabs and more.
