The documentary “They said there was nothing here”, sponsored by the Jaén Provincial Council, wins Cinema Cocina at the Málaga Festival

The province of Jaén is again located in the national and international focus thanks to its gastronomy. The documentary 'They said that there was no ná here', sponsored by the Provincial Diputación de Jaén, has been awarded the prize of the section Cinema Cocina of the 29th Festival of Malaga, a recognition that gives value to the culinary transformation that the territory has experienced in recent years. This recognition reinforces the role of culture as a projection tool and positions Jaén as a territory that adds talent, product and account.

A prize that drives Jaén's projection

The president of the Diputación de Jaén, Francisco Reyes, has attended the award-giving gala and the projection of the feature film, where he has congratulated the documentary team and has emphasized that this recognition is "a greater national and international projection for a film that is an extraordinary vehicle of promotion of our province and its rich gastronomic offer."

What's "They said there wasn't any" about?

The documentary addresses the rise of the high jiennese cuisine, marked by a recent milestone: the obtaining of a Michelin star by five restaurants in the province:

Through the voices of his chefs: Pedro Sánchez, Juan Aeituno, Juanjo Mesa, Javier Jurado and Juan Carlos García, the film builds a story about talent, territory and identity, showing how Jaén has consolidated itself as a reference for quality cuisine.

A cultural project with a Jiennese seal

Directed by Jorge Fernández Mayoral, the documentary transcends the gastronomic to incorporate a cultural and artistic look. It has texts from Ubetense writer Antonio Muñoz Molina and the participation of the contemporary dance company Marcat Dance (Vilches), contributing an emotional and scenic dimension to the story.

The production is carried out by La Caña Sisters, in collaboration with Visual Communication, and is also supported by the City of Jaén.

A story that speaks of kitchen and identity

In the framework of the Málaga Festival, the Diputación de Jaén has strengthened the promotion of local products through the Degusta Jaén strategy. During the screening of the documentary, the audience was able to taste agrofood products in the province.

In addition, in the cocktail of the gala, tapas made by the chefs Pedro Sánchez and Juan Carlos García were offered, using extra virgin olive oils Jaén Selección, also present at the dinner of the event, where the other leading chefs participated.

Culture and gastronomy as a tourist engine

The recognition obtained at the Málaga Festival not only rewards a film work, but reinforces a narrative: that of a province that has been able to turn its gastronomy into a cultural, economic and tourist engine.

'They said there was no one here 'is, in short, an invitation to discover Jaén from its roots, through its kitchen, its identity and its ability to reinvent without losing its essence.
