Úbeda's quintessential Summer Music Festival. Its stage has hosted some of the most renowned artists on the national music scene.
Úbeda, a cultural benchmark in many fields, extends its cultural range to the seventh art. Over four days, audiences enjoy concerts, round tables, talks, signing sessions and the "Walk of Fame", one of its main attractions, featuring a parade of film characters.
The “Sabina Por Aquí” Days, organised by the group Peor para el Sol, are held every year in September. These days offer a wide range of cultural activities: music, poetry, various exhibitions, film screenings... with the songwriting competition as the event's centrepiece, drawing a large number of entrants and candidates from across the Spanish-speaking world. The winner is given the opportunity to record a demo at Joaquín Sabina's own studio.
The Days, created in 2014 with the aim of linking Joaquín Sabina to the city of Úbeda, are held in collaboration with the Huerta de San Antonio Foundation, in creating and consolidating a cultural space that, drawing on Joaquín Sabina's work, explores various artistic dimensions beyond music alone. Likewise, through the Singer-Songwriter Competition and the “Acústicos por Aquí” series, new musical talent is encouraged and promoted.
For two weeks, Úbeda becomes a focal point for Sabina's fans, who, alongside an intense cultural programme, also have the chance to enjoy the monumental beauty of a city rich in culture, art, history, landscape and traditions that have withstood the passage of time.
National and international theatre companies make up a programme aimed at all audiences. Top-level shows of every genre, both classic and contemporary, add to the historical heritage that Úbeda holds.
A major cultural event centred on historical literature. For a week it brings together “leading figures” of the genre, both from Spain and abroad.
Created in 1997 with the aim of adding a musical gathering to the artistic and cultural attractions of both cities, jointly declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2003. The Festival's history is thus tied to the urban landscape of Úbeda and Baeza and to the many Renaissance spaces that serve as its venues.
Since 1977, the Discalced Carmelite community of Úbeda has organised a series of talks, liturgical events and artistic performances dedicated to San Juan de la Cruz.
The session will begin with a tasting of new-harvest EVOOs led by Mari Paz Aguilera, PhD in Chemistry and Olive Oil Tasting Specialist, discovering the wonderful aromas and flavours of the new season.
Next up will be David Hernández, creator of "Jaén de Vinos", who will treat us to a sensory journey through the wineries of the province of Jaén, tasting several wines.
This event stands as a benchmark for alternative theatre in the province, a cultural gathering notable for its constant pursuit of innovation and avant-garde approaches in the performances offered to audiences.
Every year, at the end of summer, Torredonjimeno Castle hosts an
interesting gastronomic evening in support of charity, where guests can sample various dishes prepared by a team of chefs specially chosen for each edition. The night is thus filled with appealing dishes and other entertainment, adding extra value to the initiative.
