Torres - Hondacabras - Fuenmaandor - Puerto de Torres - Castillejos - Mata Bejid - Centro de visitantes del Natural Park

Descripción larga

From Torres, and through the Pila Pellenda parquet, a mountain road is started towards Albanchez de Magina. A few four kilometres away we find a right turn, which gives access to the youth camp area Hondacabras. These sites were cattle's rest on the freckles that passed through these mountains. In this place begins a forest track between pine trees that gradually ascends for 4 Km, something beyond the Nita Fountain. When we get to the crossing we will change direction to make the promotion to the Port of the Mata. The floor of the track is firm, but we will find some outstanding ramps that the less experienced can invite them to take off their bikes. In 3.5 km the port is reached, a step between mountains - some above 2,000 meters. The landscape is a gift for the view: all the southern side of the Natural Park, mountains more than 2,000 meters of altitude (Almadén, 2.036 m., Ponce, 2.006 m and Cerro Cárceles, 2.061 m.), and dehesas in height of complaints, flocks of sheep..., and on the horizon the province of Granada. The rest of the way is down. Five and a half kilometres from the port we arrived at the Castlejo de Mata Bejid, a beautiful place that housed a garrison, which watched this passage on the Middle Ages border, and that until the first half of the 20th century it housed several families of settlers who cultivated the dehesas along the way. This castle was donated to the city of Jaén by the Catholic Kings in 1494, in reward for the services provided in the conquest of Cambil and Alhabar. Two kilometers of olive trees take us to the Cambil-Huelma road. At this point it is worth looking at the corrijada of Mata Bejid, where the spirit of the belle époque with rural dyes is still revived. It is a private property that has an interesting chapel, gardens, house of the gentlemen and even a garage of regionalist style. From here we can choose to go down to the town of Cambil, by the course of the Oviedo River (5 Km.), or better to get close to the new Visitors Center of the Natural Park just three km away. In addition to information from all over the Park, the centre has a shop, meringers, children's games, fountain, services and a walk area for people with reduced mobility.

Breve descripción

This route crosses the Sierra Magina massif by immediate areas to the high mountain. The tour begins and ends at the limits of the Natural Park, from south to north, through it completely.

It is a short path without difficulty with exceptional views throughout the course that allow numerous stops; but we certainly recommend the one indicated in the second point of the description.

Right next to the birth in the Toba, by the track that comes from the water tank.

To get to La Toba we must travel the JF-7038 that goes from Navalhora to the Juntas through the valley of the Segura River. There is a small asphalt detour from the same that goes to the village of La Toba.

Route Miradores Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
Id

Descripción larga

This route begins at the LINAREJOS VIEWPOINT, from where you can enjoy an excellent panoramic view of much of the Sierra de Cazorla, one of the mountain ranges that make up the Natural Park. The renowned naturalist and great admirer of these landscapes filmed countless scenes very close to this location. During the winter months, you can hear the sound of the water plunging down the nearby Linarejos Stream waterfall. In addition to the “Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente Viewpoints” Route, there are other equally interesting routes nearby that allow visitors to discover more of this magnificent Natural Park, such as Cerrada de Utrero and the Linarejos Viewpoint Route.

The second VIEWPOINT included on this route is POYOS DE LA MESA, which offers one of the most spectacular panoramic views in the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park: the Poyos de la Mesa plateau, which reaches an altitude of 1,635 metres. Should you decide to climb it, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Guadalquivir Valley, Vadillo-Castril and the El Adelantado Parador, among other places. It is a geological formation highly characteristic of these mountains: a unique high plateau that ends in a steep descending slope. Among the pine forests near this point stands the Pino Abuelo, or Grandfather Pine, one of the oldest trees in the area.

Coordinates: 37.906835,-2.913155

The third VIEWPOINT on the route is NAVA DE SAN PEDRO, where the meadows were once converted into vegetable gardens and cultivated fields. It provides an insight into living conditions at a time when timber was one of the main resources extracted from the mountains and the inhabitants used the relatively scarce open spaces for livestock farming and agriculture. On many occasions, the forest rangers themselves established forest houses in suitable locations such as this one, where vegetable gardens and small-scale livestock farming supplemented both their diet and their income. From this viewpoint, you can enjoy impressive views and learn about the return of the bearded vulture to Andalusia.

The landscape before you was the last Andalusian refuge of an animal as little known as it is spectacular: the bearded vulture. This Iberian vulture disappeared from the mountains you are now looking at in the late 1980s, resulting in its extinction in Andalusia.

Shortly afterwards, work began on the programme to reintroduce the bearded vulture to Andalusia, promoted by the Regional Ministry of the Environment. The species’ most remarkable characteristic is its scavenging diet, as it is the only bird on the planet that feeds almost exclusively on bones. To do so, it has developed an ingenious behaviour from which it takes its name: it drops bones from great heights so that they break against the ground in places known as bone-breaking sites. This allows it to consume large, hard bones. Although the bird is harmless, all the threats faced by bearded vultures are associated with human beings and their activities.

Their populations declined and became locally extinct as a result of direct persecution, collecting, collisions and electrocution involving power lines, and the illegal use of poisoned bait.

Today, they are also affected by disturbance around nesting sites caused by nearby recreational activities such as climbing and paragliding, as well as by reduced food availability and the decline of extensive livestock farming.

To achieve the return of the bearded vulture to Andalusia, feasibility studies were carried out to identify the most suitable areas for the species. A captive-breeding programme was established to provide chicks for reintroduction, together with a release and monitoring plan and a public-awareness programme aimed at informing the sectors involved in its conservation.

The fourth stop has been named the BARRANCO DEL GUADALENTÍN VIEWPOINT, where you can clearly observe the course followed by the river on its way towards the nearby La Bolera Reservoir. Over the centuries, the Guadalentín River has carved an impressive valley through the hard rock, which later narrows into secluded gorges known locally as “cerradas”. From here, the Sierra del Pozo rises majestically, containing some of the highest peaks in the Natural Park, including Pico Cabañas, which stands at over 2,000 metres and dominates the mountain landscape. At the foot of the viewpoint lies the path of the “Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente Viewpoints” Route, which climbs continuously until reaching the end of this magnificent route at the Estrecho de los Perales.

The fifth stop is the ESTRECHO DE LOS PERALES VIEWPOINT, a remarkable gorge distinguished by the beauty of its unusual rock formations. Below, the Valdetrillo Stream tumbles through lively rapids, providing a pleasant natural soundtrack. In this area, you may see agile mouflons and male Iberian ibex climbing the vertical rock faces, or enjoy the majestic flight of a golden eagle, griffon vulture or booted eagle. Behind the viewpoint stands Cerro de los Trancos, which offers views of some of the highest mountains in this protected natural area, including El Cabañas.

“We must do everything within our power; we must fight together, united and tenaciously, so that a vast, round rock does not die: a rock with a heart of iron and basalt, a rock with a skin of water and clouds, a rock whose voice is the singing of birds and the whisper of the breeze, now increasingly overwhelmed by the roar of the machines invented by humankind; a rock travelling through space, carrying the human species and every living animal; a rock that I like to call the blue planet.”

Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente in El Hombre y la Tierra.

Breve descripción

This route is located in Puente de la Cerrada del Utrero. Nearby you will find the INITIO sign of path where it explains that we will travel through the forest track that is headed to the fields of Hernán Perea. It is a free road for road traffic so we must take precautions to walk on a path.

Along the itinerary several viewpoints will help us to interpret the landscape by delights us with the views that these saws offer us.

Among the most striking points are the Cerrada de Utrero and Linarejos, where the waters of the Guadalquivir River have excavated a deep throat, the Poyos de la Mesa, a striking geological formation in which the strong rocky, the Spora de San Pedro, a kárstic planicie surrounded by mountains, The Guadaltir Valley, which leads the waters of this river to the reservoir of La Bolera, and the Strait of Perales, pronounced throat where the rock is the main protagonist of the environment.

You will also pass by the poyos of the Carilong, where he lived the last broken bones of Andalusia. At present this rapture is once again spreading the natural park skies thanks to the reintroduction.

Forestrand Track hacia Prado de Juan Ruiz

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
Id

Breve descripción

It is a very long forest track that ends in the village of La Donal, in the province of Albacete. The firm is usually in good condition, although some sections may not be recommended for cars. We suggest you go to the village of Prado de Juan Ruiz, 13.5 km from the beginning. The good views and the passage through some of the areas with the most botanical relevance of the Natural Park are guaranteed.

From the beginning of the tour we can see the abundance of complaints and albar thorns mixed with the larix pine, as well as some twins. At 4 km, we find the beginning of the extraordinary signposted path that goes up to the Calar del Espino, in the area of maximum protection declared Reserve Area for its botanical interest.

At 5 '5 km we will be on the Collado del Ventano, a stretch in which there are excellent views and in which are very abundant the granadino maples, spectacular in autumn. At 6' 9 km, a forest track on the right also allows us to climb on foot to the Calar del Espino and go to the magnificent Collado de Góntar, where you can go down to the Segura valley.

Following the main route, we immediately reach the cozy foothills of the Fuente del Tejo, and 10 km from the beginning, we pass through the Cortijo de Morillas. Three and a half kilometres further is the village of Prado de Juan Ruiz, already in ruins and without any signs. It is a place lost from whose old age, at the foot of the track, there is the contradictory feeling of guessing what the hard life on the mountain must have been and of enjoying the greatness of the landscape.

If we continued, we would find at the end of 7 km the small right turn to the village of Collado de la Fuente, and then, between the hillsides covered with closed cobblestones, the shocking parade of Los Huecos de Bañares. Already in the province of Albacete, you can go to Las Juntas Miller to close an extraordinary circuit along the Segura and Madera valleys.

Located at the junction of the JF-7016 road, which comes from Segura de la Sierra, and the JF-7012 road, which comes from Siles, we take direction towards Rio Madera and Santiago de la Sword. The track, wide and very visible, starts at 0.4 km to the left.

Descripción larga

To get to the beginning of the track we follow the JH-7155 (Transversal de Las Villas) road, which starts in Mogón, until the km 22, after about 700 m from the site of La Fresnedilla. At that point, to our left, several ways are left. The first to the site of the Arroyo del Torno, place of an old nursery located in the wonderful channel of this stream. The second detour is the track that leads us, after 2.6 km, to the top of Navazalto (1379 m).

Breve descripción

From the top of the Navazalto you will see huge parades of high rocky walls, which cause abrupt and steep ravines, by which spectacular water leaps occur. The panorama is splendid. To the west, the great depression of the Guadalquivir valley, between the green tapestry of the olive trees, is lost on the horizon, as are the villages of the La Loma and Magina. From north to south you can see a complete view of the indomic saw of the Villas, and below, the blue of the reservoir of Aguascebas.

In this place it is easy to observe the flight the leonate vultures, coming out of their nests that are below us. It is also not difficult to see several groups of mountain goats followed by their young.

This route can be done on foot, on a bike or with a 4x4 vehicle. The forest track leading to Navazalto is narrow and sinuous. On the plain, where the track begins, we can see a small fountain with its tornachs, a watershed where the cattle satisfy their thirst. It runs on a soft rocky side with wooded sketches of juniper, savannah, wild rosals and oaks. Later on there are majestic black pine trees that accompany us to the summit, where the pastures are alternated with young pine populations.

Forestrand Track Naval Caballo - El Robledo

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
Id

Breve descripción

This forest track is 20 kilometres long and is down from the Navalhora site, in the middle of a large larix pine forest, to the village of El Robledo, near New Cortijos. We recommend walking through its first miles from Navalhora, enjoying magnificent views towards the villages of Los Royos and Moralejos, as well as the thick oak trees that develop under the pine.

At 3.7 km, a wide road to the left allows us to link back to the road.

If we approach the track from the opposite point, at the Robledo, at 700 m we will reach the lookout of the same name and at the end of 2.5 km to a flowery fountain, then gain splendid views towards the Tranco reservoir.

The track does not have excessive levels, so it is very suitable for mountain bike. We do not recommend driving because you can find sections with the firm in bad condition.

Forestrand Track mirador de Juan León

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

Descripción larga

From the town of Pontones we left for the A-317 towards Santiago de la Espada. Immediately, we take to the right an asphalt road that ends at the birth of the Segura River. There begins a forest track marked as GR 144. About 2.5 km away we take a fork to the right corresponding to GR 7. From here, without leaving the road, we will reach an open area where the lookout is indicated within 10 minutes. From birth to the lookout there is a 1? h and 30 minutes walking.

Breve descripción

On this natural balcony made up of almond rocks located at 1700 m of altitude, you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view. Before you the Sierra de las Villas to the west, to the south of Cazorla and to the east of Segura, all with its most representative peaks. If you look out with caution you will be impressed by the view of the Barranco del Lobo, next to which the abandoned village of Los Centenares is located. From the viewpoint you can still see the ages that their inhabitants used to feed the grain.

The forest track that leads you to the viewpoint of Juan León can be done by car, although it is worth taking a walk. In progressive ascension you will enjoy a pleasant landscape that is being transformed as you advance. You will find areas with imposing isolated pine trees, thick forests and noble shrubs with protected species, increasingly difficult to find. If it is spring you will be seduced by the great flowers of peony, of a striking fuchsia color.

At other times the landscape is opened, leaving to see rocky and piornal ones that tell us that we are many meters high. Along the climb you will see some dyes and tornips, buildings intended for the shelter and feeding of the cattle. Walking these paths and watching the landscape you will discover the life of these lands.

Already on the balcony you must be attentive, because at any time it can appear before your eyes some rapace with its majestic flight, perhaps pursued by the crows in their struggle for the territory.

Forestrand Track de Despiernacaballos

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

Descripción larga

On our way out of Pontones we are heading for Santiago de la Sword for the A-317. About 10 - 11 km is located on the right the Tina de la Cañá, a small construction to keep cattle, and just across the road begins this forest track that goes from the heights of Pontones and Santiago de la Espada to the Toba.

Breve descripción

This track is very panoramic and links two nearby but contrasted areas: the heights of Pontones and the Segura valley. The descent on the track allows you to enjoy beautiful views of the Segura River and the mountains and risks that accompany you before giving yourself to the reservoir of Las Anchuricas. It can be done by car or walking, but it is ideal for making it by mountain bike.

The start is practically flat, and continues like this to the Collado Los Ruejos, where it begins another way to the right that is interesting, but it is not our route. So far the vegetation is mainly arbustive, with some repopulation pinars. The track then slowly descends until it is almost parallel to the Cañada Hermosa stream, and thus reaches the hill of Desevernacaballos, the huge limestone wall that gives name to the track.

From this point you will cross a dense black pine forest, while the road takes advantage of the level curves so that the slope is not too uncomfortable. Along this descent you will see the impressive mountains surrounding the Segura River: the Cerro del Garmonal and the Pichon del Tesoro on our right, the Calar del Pino in front of you, on the other side of the river.

The 11 km of track will allow you to appreciate the great contrast between the two areas: the high part that is unearthed and without just slope, while in the Segura valley, near La Toba, you will find a lot of trees and streams that nurture the orchards and fruits of the village.

It is required to visit the fountain of La Toba, a permanent spring that brings 150 litres per second to the Segura River, and is located in a curious cave of frozen water.

As you cross the denser vegetation area, it is worth stopping to discover maples, complaints or oaks in the wet areas. You'll always be able to cross with some deer or horse goat.

The first half of the route, along the asphalt road, passes through an interesting forest of coniferous: black pines and carrasco, complaints, oaks..., mixed with alffas, strawberries and willows of the river of Guadalquivir, and includes the required visit to the Park of Fauna SilvestreAlmond Necklace. Large mammals, such as deer, mountain goats, muflons and wos, live in semi-freedom this part of the Natural Park

From kilometer 8, past the bridge of the Golondrinas over the Guadalquivir, we travel through a forest track that crosses streams under the refreshing shade of chopos, strawberries and willows, with intrusions of Mediterranean forest, where it will be nothing difficult to meet with deer, boars, squirrels, etc.

Breve descripción

We cannot talk about the Natural Park Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas without the extraordinary figure of Professor Felix Rodríguez de la Fuente coming to our attention. Since 2001, the year when this tour was arranged under the advice of the well-known naturalist and writer Joaquín Araujo, the Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente Route has become a reference to reflect the best moments in the TV series "Man and Earth." In 2011, thirty years after the death of Professor Rodríguez de la Fuente in an unfortunate accident, the RFRF has been renewed with new interpretative panels and pointed elements to be visited, without losing detail, in total symbiosis with nature.

Source in the Cortijo de las Animas.

It is advised to remain silent on the forest track to observe wild fauna in its natural habitat.
Forest track crossing restriction: from 18: 00 (winter) and 21: 00 (summer).

The RFRF has five perfectly-equipped viewpoints with interpretative panels of the territory, as well as a natural balcony, which allow a better understanding of the landscape and biological values of the Natural Park Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas.

Félix Rodríguez de La Fuente
It is located at 60,500 km of the A-319 autonomous road and offers a beautiful panoramic part of the Sierra de las Banderillas and its 1,993-metre summit, the Tranco reservoir and the small island of Bujaraiza, with the remains of its castle of Muslim origin. At this point, the Man and Earth shooting team filmed the most enchanting scenes of the deer's berrhea in heat.

Mirador Castillo de Bujaraiza
It is located within the Park of Fauna Silvestre, almost two kilometres from the start of the route. It is one of a vestige of the past, when the waters of the reservoir did not flood the fertile vegas of Guadalquivir.

Mirador de las Animas
A few meters from the previous lookout is that of the Animas, which offers spectacular views of the slopes of Piedras Brunas with its characteristic fully vertical flashlights.

Mirabuene Viewer
From here there is a spectacular view of the Guadalquivir before arriving at the reservoir. In addition, we will be able to see, hopefully, the majestic flights of lethargy vultures and some other road eagle.

Natural balcony of Collado del Almond
On the banks of the Tranco reservoir, at the height of kilometer 13.8, we have a unique opportunity to get a panoramic view from the outside of Fauna Silvestre Park. A mile later, it is located in Cortijo de las Animas, where there is a spring water source.

Mirador de Cabeza de la Viña
The huge island ofHead of the vineyardwith its more than a thousand hectares of extension, it seems to be from the waters of the reservoir. This enclave, located at the end of the RFRF, is ideal for the observation of the park's aquatic fauna.

Descripción larga

We suggest the following possibilities:

Km 2.Peña del Olivar Recreative Area. It has an unusual Botanical Collection with natural park species and a natural pool. It is also the starting point for various walks.

Km 2.2.Start to the left of the road to the Fountain Recreative Area of the Almoteja. You can go by car, but we recommend to enjoy on foot this walk 1.5 km next to the river vegetation of the Arroyo del Barranco de los Tejos. The recreational area has a fountain where we can see the catacamosque (Pinguicola vallisneriifolia), small carnivora plant endemic to the Park. There begins a signposted path of 1 '5 km.

Km 5.2. The site of La Fresnedilla, with small scattered cortijos, where we can walk two signposted paths.

Km 6.3.Start to the right of the La Canalica forest track. We recommend that you drive through it, as we can walk through several signposted trails and approach the well of the Snow, sturdy and hidden stone construction where the snow was previously stored for use during the summer. Next to him is a source.

Km 7.3.Mirador de La Fresneilla, with beautiful views.

Km 7.8.Free Time Siles residence. It is in a very careful environment from which comes a wide road that allows very pleasant walks. It ends, after almost 6 km, on the forest track that leaves Siles towards the Puntal de la Ajedrea.

Km 10.4.Start to the left of a long forest track that crosses private farms and runs, in its last sections, by the Tu River.

Km 11.Start to the right of the same forest track we saw in the km 6.3, which makes loop with the road. From here is closer the Snow well. From here we enter the Reserve Area of Acebeas- Nava del Espino, an area especially protected by its high ecological value. We can see that at this point the forest becomes greener and greener.

Km 11.6.Area of Azebeas Controlled Squad. Magnificent place under large larity pines where you can rest when you are not occupied by some camp.

Km 12.5.Place of Las Abeas. On the left a delicious walk to an old forest house starts. This place, with its hazelnuts and its large hives in the shadow of the larice pines, is one of the most emblematic of the Natural Park. In less than an hour you can climb an exceptional path from the forest house to the Calar de Navalperal, from where you enjoy great views.

Km 14.1.Cross with the JF-7016 road. Here our route ends, although it is a very strategic place to start many others. You will see abundant signs that indicate different possibilities, such as Segura de la Sierra, Río Madera or Pontones.

Breve descripción

This route runs along the narrow mountain road next to Siles in the direction of the high areas of the saw. It is always raised between pineapples and allows access to different recreational areas, looking and very attractive walking routes. It ends in the area of Las Azebeas, where the forest acquires an amazing northern environment.
