Oleocata
Description
Oleocata Xauen is the first private laboratory to offer an innovative activity in the olive sector: the professional tasting of olive oils. The main objective of the company is to fight for quality maintenance, enhancing the work of analysis of virgin olive oils, its classification based on the organoleptic score and the advice on its subsequent use, all of which is reflected in a custom newsletter that makes it easier for each customer.
They also offer specialized training courses and provide days and conferences related to the olive sector.
His three founding partners came into contact with the sector after taking the title "University Expert in Tata de Oils de Oliva Virgen" in 1999, given by the University of Jaén in collaboration with the International Olive Council. After studying the sector, they detected a market vacuum in one of the most important production areas of "liquid gold" in the world, and decided to create the first company dedicated to professional tasting. In their view, quality controls established by public bodies should be more comprehensive and the importance of analysis should be encouraged.
Supported by the Torredelcampo School of Business (Jaén), the three partners were formed under the formula of a labour society, to which two more partners would later be added. During 2004, a small 'delicattessen' trade is diversified and launched, located in the historical-tourist centre of the Jienese capital, specialized in products made and packaged under oil, in order to spread the Mediterranean culture of olive oil.
