The fortified set of Arjona, of medieval times, was a large complex composed of a alcazaba, a alcazar and a large walled exterior enclosure jalonado of towers. Although only structures of the fortress have been preserved, the presence of vestiges of its defenses, towers and canvases, scattered between the house, as well as the almohade, with columns of Roman times, which can be visited by the church. On the 22nd of the Sun Street, the rehabilitation of part of the wall canvas, and of an annexed tower, has made it possible to create a small space for interpretation of the walls of Arjona.
In the Plaza de Santa María, the highest area of the town, the settlements have taken place from Prehistory to today. It was originally a town of the Etudes of Copper and Bronze and then an Iberian oppidum that ended up becoming the Roman Urgavo municipality. After a sharp decline in the population in the Visigodic era, the Muslim occupation brought with it a great development of the city, now called Qal'at Aryuna, head of one of the main administrative districts of the Cora de Jaén. Once conquered by the Christian armies it was made the head of one of the great councils of Villa and Land of the kingdom of Jaén and head of the Order of Calatrava.

Would you like to feel the magic of a ceramic craftsman's workshop and know first hand how to make their pieces? You want to know what it feels like to play and work the clay?

Do you want to disconnect with your family or friends, or meet new people and create objects with your own hands, experiencing the artisan ceramics in a charming Andalusian village?

Modeling among olive trees is a proposal of creative and cultural experiences that will allow you to know the culture of Jaén and Andalusia in an immersive and authentic way. A dream come true that is born of the concerns of a potter and a tourist guide that open the doors of his house in Arjonilla, a charming little town surrounded by olive trees.

The ceramic in Arjonilla, located in the province of Jaén, has roots that extend until more than 4000 years ago. This small Andalusian corner is home to a rich pottery tradition, which is recognized and protected today as Good of Cultural Interest. We invite you to discover the culture of Jaén from another perspective, through the ceramics.

It is important for us not only to transmit the knowledge related to ceramics, but also to make our culture and our way of life known. Therefore, our groups are very small, of up to 4 or 5 people, in order to be able to have a very close treatment.

In our more than a day's courses, our students are our guests; that is, if you do one of our courses, we invite you to live with us in our home, as if you were one of the family. Sharing time and space with indigenous people, living in the house of a craftsman and artist is a unique and incredibly enriching experience.

Our workshop is a space full of creativity where we share the art of ceramics with all of you. Here, each molded piece is not only ceramic, but a history of tradition and art.

From the first time you touch the mud until the moment your piece comes out of the oven, every step is an adventure. Here you dive into a world where your hands are the protagonists, creating beauty and functionality.

This place is not just a workshop: it is a meeting point for ceramic lovers, for those who seek to (re) connect with their interior and for all people who want to learn and grow. Each session is an opportunity to explore, to relax and, above all, to enjoy the art in its purest form.

Breve descripción

Dive into authentic Andalusia with 'Modeling between Olivos'. Experience with your own hands the ceramic of Arjonilla (Jaén), a protected tradition. In our experiences, from 2 hours to 6 days immersions, you will learn to work the mud and discover the local and regional culture of the hand of a potter and a tourist guide in a beautiful environment surrounded by olive trees.

Martos, Capital of the Calatrava Commandery

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

Descripción
Descripción larga

The origins of the city go back to Prehistory. It was the Ibera city of Tucci, and in Roman times the Colonia Augusta Gemella. With the Visigoths it was episcopal headquarters, the Muslims gave it the name of Martos, being at this time an important military fortress. After the Christian conquest it became the capital of the Order of Calatrava in Alto Guadalquivir. His special physical configuration and complex historical legacy give him an appeal and a singularity that have led him to the recognition of the Historical Set as Good of Cultural Interest.

At 10: 00, reception of the group in the Plaza de la Fuente de la Villa.

From 10: 00 to 12: 30, breakfast, to be brought by the student, in the City Hall Square and guided tour to the historic city centre, including the Church of Santa Marta, the Sanctuary of the Virgin of the Villa and the tower of tribute of the Castle of the Villa, today converted into an Interpretation Center.

From 12: 30 to 13: 30, visit the San Amador agricultural cooperative (C / Prince Philip, 20), with more than 50 years of history, where schoolchildren will be able to know more about oil, its production, types and flavors, through tastings, catas and the projection of an audiovisual.

The school children will receive the teaching book "Cultural visit to Martos," carried out by the City of Martos.

Breve descripción

Martos offers us a unique enclave and a unique image: the legendary Peña, the house settled on its hillsides, forming a beautiful set of white houses, spilled on successive steps looking for the plain, and all of it wrapped by the wealth and magnitude of the olive tree.
