Every spring, Linares brings its past back to life with the Cástulo Festivities, a celebration featuring a spectacular historical re-enactment, complemented by a full programme of activities that immerse the "mining city" and the Cástulo Archaeological Site in the Ancient World and its Ibero-Roman past.

One of the most representative flamenco singing competitions in Spain. Every year, the Linares National Tarantas Competition draws ever more people and better performers — not only established flamenco artists, but also promising young singers.

Linares holds its fair in the last week of August, coinciding with the feast of its patron saint, San Agustín. It is one of the most important festivals in Spain, both for its bullfighting side — paying annual tribute to the bullfighter Manolete, fatally gored by a bull during these festivities — and for the cultural, sporting and leisure activities held over these days.

Linares hosts a prestigious guitar competition every year, bringing together participants from all over the world, which confirms its impact both nationally and internationally.

In the first week of December, the city of Linares celebrates the feast of Santa Bárbara, patron saint of miners. A very special celebration that highlights the mining heritage of the Comarca Norte de Jaén, one of the most important in the country.

This popular local dish becomes the focus of an event packed with fun activities. Dozens of people take part in this competition, which decides which is the best gachamiga recipe entered. The various entries are displayed on tables decorated with other local products and utensils, alongside folk performances and outdoor activities.
