One of the most deeply rooted popular festivals in Rus. A unique and singular celebration, unlike any other in the province or indeed the whole country, marking both Corpus Christi and Carnival twice a year. Its origin lies in the great plagues and epidemics that struck this part of the province in the 17th century, mainly affecting young people. According to oral tradition, residents implored the Blessed Sacrament, which they carried out in a rogation procession so that the epidemic would end — and from that moment, no further infections occurred. The young men who survived decided to celebrate by wearing disguises, giving rise to the tradition of carrying the Blessed Sacrament in procession in September and warding off death with “mascarillas” (masks). 

Between May and June, Pegalajar hosts the Paragliding European and World Championship. An international event bringing together the world's best pilots in Mágina. The Siete Pilillas flying area, a prime spot for paragliding thanks to its aerological features and accessibility, will see 140 pilots from various countries take off and land. The competition will consist of races over an aerial course set each competition day depending on weather conditions, always flying without any form of propulsion and using only rising air currents. 

This is the longest-running flamenco event in the province of Jaén, among the flamenco gatherings that have passed the 50-year mark. Organised by Pegalajar Town Hall and sponsored by the Diputación de Jaén, it is held in collaboration with the town's Flamenco Club. The event is a benchmark for cante jondo enthusiasts thanks to the quality of its programme. 

One of the longest-running festivals in the province of Jaén, its stage has hosted some of the leading bands in Spanish rock. An eclectic festival where punk, reggae, metal or stoner rock can all be found on the same day.

Observing wildlife in the wild is one of the great attractions of the province of Jaén. Of all the species living in the Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas, Despeñaperros and Sierra de Andújar Natural Parks, one impressive mammal stands out: the red deer. With the arrival of autumn, visitors can enjoy a beautiful natural spectacle starring these deer: the rut. It's one of the province's great natural draws, with privileged spots for witnessing this fascinating moment. Scheduled routes are available, which can be booked in advance.

One of the most eagerly awaited sporting events for running enthusiasts. The race, organised by Martos Town Hall in collaboration with the Correcaminos de Martos running club and the village of Las Casillas, follows a perimeter circuit around the Víboras reservoir, a site of great beauty thanks to the surrounding landscape.

Martos, also known as the cradle of the olive grove, celebrates its traditional Olive Festival in the first week of December (a Festival of Tourist Interest of Andalusia). Four days packed with activities to mark the start of the olive-harvesting season and pay tribute to the town's olive pickers, both men and women. 

The rich pastry-making tradition of the province's convents, and of other parts of Andalusia too, is showcased every year in Martos, at an event held over several days, where all kinds of recipes are displayed and sold, such as borrachuelos, tejas, roscos de piñonate, tocinos de cielo, cocadas, huesos de santo, alfajores, truffles, mostachones, madeleines, biscuits, empanadillas filled with candied pumpkin, and marzipan. 
 

Over the years, the falla of Mancha Real has become an attractive tourist destination thanks to the uniqueness of a tradition that has earned it the designation of Andalusian Festival of Tourist Interest. Around this celebration, driven by the town's carpenters' guild, a wide range of cultural and sporting activities takes place, usually concluding with the “cremá” (burning).

For six years now, Lopera has re-enacted one of the most important battles on the so-called Andalusian Front during the Spanish Civil War. This re-enactment features an extensive programme of activities combining history, culture, tourism and memory.
