Jódar, located in the heart of the Sierra Mágina Natural Park, celebrates its Carnival and Fiestas Medievales de la Embajada with particular splendour, recalling beautiful 15th-century love stories sung by troubadours and recounted by historians.

The oldest folk festival in southern Europe, organised since its inception by the musical group Andaraje de Jódar.

Since 1971, the Jódar Flamenco Festival has been one of the province's main summer flamenco events. It usually alternates established artists with promising young talents in singing, guitar playing or dance. It stands out, however, for its commitment to pure flamenco art, leaving no room for other kinds of music.

The Noche de San Antón International Urban Race is considered one of the best 10-kilometre races in Spain and on the Continent. Over the years, it has brought together the best athletes on the national and international scene.

Olympic athletes and world and European champions already know what it means to compete in the capital amid thousands of torches and a devoted crowd. The newly certified course and the presence of world-class elite athletes in the capital have given fresh scale to an event held every year since 1984.

The race, born as a complement to the traditional bonfires, has grown from the 180 brave runners who took the start line in that first edition to more than 14,000, for example, in 2020. Despite the changes it has undergone over the years, parhttps://twitter.com/AndaluciaSinVOX/status/1671623007968677889?s= it has lost none of its essence. Running in Jaén on its big night remains an unforgettable experience for the city and for visitors who love races and traditions.

The most important and long-standing festival in Villacarrillo, with more than 650 years of history. Since the 19th century it has held the privilege of being celebrated in the afternoon, with the blessing of the Holy See and Pope Leo XIII. Streets and small squares are decorated with potted plants, broom and carpets of flowers, creating true works of art, as residents turn Villacarrillo into a genuine garden for the senses to enjoy. Besides this town, Corpus Christi is also deeply rooted in Baeza, a celebration held since the Middle Ages; and in Villardompardo, honoured with the designation of Site of Ethnological Cultural Interest.

Jaén is an essential stop on the Vuelta Ciclista a Andalucía Ruta del Sol. The leading cyclists of the international peloton have a date with Andalusia's roads every February.

This is one of the most important stage races in mountain-bike cycling in Spain and one of the most recognised in the world, held between the provinces of Jaén and Córdoba. A sporting event that allows the province to showcase the beauty of its landscape.

This is the best showcase for the province's 97 municipalities to display their culture, festivals, customs and traditions, tourist attractions, gastronomy, and main economic activities. 19 March was the date chosen by the Diputación's Plenary in 2013 to mark Provincial Day, commemorating the passing of the 1812 Constitution and, with it, the creation of the Provincial Councils (Diputaciones).

Since its creation, the Jaén Film and Gastronomy Festival (Kocinema) has been presented as a fusion of these two cultural expressions. This event, organised by Jaén Town Hall, aims to promote and spread the culinary charms of the capital, in support of its bid to be named a UNESCO Creative City in the gastronomy category. Film, music, talks and discussions, tastings and tapas trails are among the highlights of this event, held over several weeks.

The Fiesta de las Cruces is one of the major festive events of May in the province of Jaén. Every spring, our province dresses up for this celebration with a long popular tradition. It is also one of the religious commemorations that best combine tradition, culture and enjoyment. From Alcalá la Real to Alcaudete, from Cazalilla to Jimena (with its distinctive “tíos de ricia”), taking in Úbeda, Linares, Baeza and the capital, Jaén, the Fiesta de la Cruz is already firmly established on the province's festive calendar.
