Cornicabrales

Descripción
Descripción larga

Once we get to Central, we're already in the middle of the cornicabral. A mile earlier, from the Nidillo Strike, we will be accompanied by the cornicabra to our right on a very stony and pending slope. At the end of the route, in front of the bridge that crosses the Borosa River to access the central one, on the hillside that extends to our left after crossing the bridge, we will observe large trees, which look like oak trees, but if you look at us it will surprise us that they are large cornicabra. In the fall we are presented with a multitude of warm colors ranging from orange to dark red.

The cornicabral that we see is associated with little vegetation in its lowland, this is because the presence of cattle (wild or domestic ungulates) benefits the cornicabra, its outbreaks and spills of seed are very toxic and not appetizing to the cattle, so it is not easy to see other species accompanying the cornicabral, and more in areas frequented by the cattle. However, they are usually seen in oak (Quercus ilex ballota), arces de Montpelier (Acer mosnpessulanum), agracejos (Phillyrea latifolia), sabinas (Juniperus phoenicea), lentisco (Pistacia lenticus), rosemos (Rosmarinus officinalis), torvizcos (Daphne gnidium), esamujos (Rosa ssp.) and among herbaceas we highlight the peony or rose of mountain (Paeonia broteroi), as well as in the gradivos (Rachos), as in the gradivázos, as in the gradivánas in the gracos (Rachos, as in the gradius, as in the gradivás, as in the gradivázos, as in the gracos (Rachos), as in the gradius, as in the gradivávás, as in the gradius in the gracas in the gracos, as in the (Poa bulbosa, Agrostis ssp., Cynosurus echinatus, Aegilops geniculata, Arrhenatherum elatinus, etc.).

The name of the cornicabra is due to the protuberances in the form of goat horn so characteristic in leaves and stems, which are gills produced by the bite of an insect, which uses them as food for its larvae.

We suggest:

  • The cornicabral are present in others in many mountains and more or less stony slopes of the Park, as in this type of environment it is where the cornicabra (Pistacia terebinthus) finds its habitat. Extensive cornicabral can be seen on the slopes of the Zumeta River, near the Ticiano Sale, in the gutters of Peña Corba (Las Villas), on the slopes of the Yelmo Chico, in the Cerrada del Utrero, etc.

Route of the Borosa, from the place known as La Central. To reach the cornicabral we must remount the Borosa River along the track that passes to its vera, and that ends up in a hydroelectric power plant. We take it on the farm of Borosa, a well-known place. We have 8 km ahead of us, but they don't have much slope and can be done easily, and we go all the way through the Borosa River, which is one of the most spectacular and popular routes of the Park.

Breve descripción

Pilate boat, Borosa River

This cornicabral is extended by the Pilate Boat, at the head of the Borosa River, where there are the largest copies of those in the Park.

When enjoying plant formations, preference is often given to those that are starring in trees, but in these saws many are dominated by shrubs. This is the case with the cornicabral, of great ecological and landscape importance, especially in the autumn, when they become almost red.

Breve descripción

The Santa Ana Sunday convent was built in 1540 at the request of Fray Domingo de Baltanás, Dominican, theologian and writer. The cover of the church is made of silery stone, with a hornacina where the figure of the Santo Domingo de Guzmán, founder of the Dominican order, is represented. The interior of the church is made up of a single ship. In the convent, a magnificent 16th century cloister, with fourteen columns that support part of the dependencies, is removed. Around the courtyard is the refectory with a remarkable mural of 1584.

They are also kept in the Convent of Santa Teresa of Jesus, founded by the marriage of Francisco Palomino Ulloa and Juana of Quesada in 1615, two memorable objects: a handwritten copy of the "Spiritual Song" of San Juan de la Cruz and a calling bell belonging to Santa Teresa. It is highly recommended to acquire the typical sweets that make in their work the Carmelite nuns barefoot in a traditional and homemade way, especially their famed cupcakes.

Breve descripción

This convent, built in a Baroque style and located in the heart of the historic city, very close to the cathedral, is dedicated to Santa Teresa de Jesús and in the interior of its Church, built in 1673, is the burial of Eufrasio López de Rojas, author, among others, of the façade of the cathedral of Jaén.

Convent of Cazalla

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on

Descripción
Descripción larga

This convent is very linked to Our Lady of Hope, as we can see below. Often, when we hear about Our Lady of Hope, we automatically associate her with Seville and her Holy Week. However, one thing that many people are not aware of is that its origin is located in the province of Jaén, specifically in the region of Sierra Magina, according to some studies and the finding of a document, image of the left, of great importance on this subject. With the transcription that is presented we intend to see how in the toponymy of the convent of Cazalla a reference to the Virgin Macarena appears, in the year 1749, coinciding with the epoch of the highest splendor of the Order of the Basilios, as well as the Cadastre of the Marquis of the Ensenada. This report, which refers to a guide to the transport of cattle, is the only document found in the municipal archive, so far, where it is confirmed something that supports previous studies, such as that published by Rafael Ortega and Sagrista, "The Monastery of Our Lady of Hope, in the cazalla, belonging to the order of San Basilio Magno," where the origin of such a Marian advocation, the famous Virgin Esperanza Macarena of Seville, is determined in these places. What seems to be fully observed is that the diffuse center of the Basil monks in Andalusia comes from the region of Sierra Mágina, in particular Mata-Begid and the said Cazalla Convent, as Vicente Oya shows, to see the website www.camorl.iesata.es, or the book by Hilario Arenas González "La Macarena de Sevilla."
With this small review, we are only trying to make known an interesting line of research that we are now in the process of developing.

Breve descripción

Since the 15th century there was a monastery of agustines in the place of Cazalla, which in 1578 became of the order of S. Basilio Magno. From that convent, it reached its highest splendor in the 18th century, reaching to have 13 monks, 3 leagues, 8 servants to own more than 200 flocks of cultivation (approximately 130 Hectareas) as known to the remains currently existing, only one cover remains, with a half-point bow blinded that gave access to the temple and, above it, the statue of S. Basilio Great, on a stacked hornadine up to half. It is a cast size of small proportions, which only lets see the head of the holy headline, with a luenga beard and a mitre. The size has been recently restored.

Control Checkpoint of La Cabrera

Descripción
Descripción larga

The access road runs through a relatively easy forest track; this track is taken from the same town of Marmolejo, after crossing the bridge over the Guadalquivir River at the height of the spa.

Right on the north bank of the river a right turn is taken towards the Aliseda, follow those signs and this way for 12.5 km until you reach the closed control door. There you can leave the vehicle and put things on the other side by entering the pedestrian door.

This point is especially suitable for those fans with telescopes and their own means in search of an outstanding sky and with light-taking to connect their equipment.

Breve descripción

Another privileged place is La Cabrera Control, in Marmolejo. The great advantage of this enclave is that it currently has an electric current that can be taken directly from an external plug that is located on the wall of the guard's surveillance shed.

Archaeological ensemble of the Ibero-Roman city of Cástulo

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
Id

Descripción
Descripción larga

The Archaeological Set of Catulo and its monographic museum in Linares are the ideal sites to know the cultural diversity of Andalusia. The Ibero-Roman city is located on the right bank of the Guadalimar River, it is one of the capital centers of the peninsular noon during the antiquity, both for the extension of its walled enclosure (70 hectares), and for its strategic position in the Alto Guadalquivir and its mining holdings of silver, lead and copper. The "oppidum"- or fortified city - of Cattulo, first, was the most important nucleus of the population of the Iberian Oretania and, later, was formed as a Roman municipality, becoming episcopal headquarters in the lower-imperial era.

Catulus, Ibero-Roman city

The archaeological area of Catulo comprises a vast surface where multiple evidence is overlapping which are expression of other forms of occupation. There are necropolis, factories, public infrastructure and other suburban facilities related to the Ibero-Roman city, but also other settlements from Prehistory to the low Middle Ages, which complete the historical value of this archaeological area. This complex stratigraphic and temporal sequence, which has reached our time in exceptional conditions of conservation and integrity, is a significant segment of the entire history of Andalusia.

The tour begins with the reception center, where the visitor will find all the keys to understand the historical development of the site. In the walls you can make a stop in the highest part of the city and visit the Gate of the Lions of the Republican period, where the famous León de Catulo, the best preserved of the entire Iberian peninsula, was discovered. In the central area of the plateau do not forget to make a tour of the different archaeological areas and to contemplate the spectacular "Mosaic of the Amores," considered one of the ten greatest discoveries of 2012 by the magazine National Geographic. Also in the same area you can see an important religious building within which the "Patena de Cristo" was discovered, a fourth-century glass dish with one of the best preserved images of Christ which is currently exposed in the Museum of Linares. At the most eastern end of the settlement, you can see the Castle of Santa Eufemia, a fortification that dates from the Arab period and is also part of the cultural itinerary Route of the Castles and the Battle.

Archaeological Museum

This museum cannot be understood in its integrity without reference to the Archaeological Set of Cattulo, as they are intimately related. In fact, an important impetus in the development of the Museum occurs when the expropriation of the lands of the former Cattulo is carried out, a process that began in 1968 and concluded in 1972, thus facilitating the research work that has been carried out in these areas since 1958 and from where the most important and numerous part of the collection comes from.

The tour is arranged on several floors, a covered courtyard and the basement. Its rooms treasure the most important findings of Catulus, including the Ibero-Roman Lion dating back to the 1st century BC and the Patena of Christ dating back to the 4th century AD.

Complex Arroyo de la Rambla (PB-4)

Submitted by brandcode_deweloper on
Id

Descripción
Descripción larga

Discovered in 1992. It currently reaches a total of 5.117 m of development with important prospects for exploring new galleries. This very important complex is located in the vicinity of the Pantano de la Bolera, in the Barrio known by Arroyo de la Rambla, the two mouths of access are opened in the municipal term Peal de Becerro (Jaén) and much of the cavity is developed under the term Cazorla (Jaén). Along with this large complex, several more cavities have been located that have not been able to communicate to date (PB-1, PB-2, PB-5, PB-7), which were certainly part of it at the time, and these cavities are currently being explored.

The main entrance, of small dimensions, provides access to a floor room that is damaged by the blocks that cover it, ceilings between two and four meters high and spacious, allowing to accommodate several dozen people. At the bottom, between blocks, the sinuous continuation is opened. Close steps and several descending highlights lead almost to the level of the ravine, and it is often found flooded. The water input is done through the PB-6 sink. A narrow corridor with clay-covered floor, followed by several climates, leads again to the level of the entrance room, out of reach of the waters. The transit through them is balized, to try to mitigate as much as possible the alteration of the floor, after the steps to be followed you have to climb to a top floor with the help of a small staircase of about 10 m.

This apartment is characterized by a succession of steps between blocks that once stranded back down to the level of the gallery. From this point the continuation is more problematic, as the succession of ramps, steps between blocks, des climes, etc. make their description very monotonous. The second staircase opens a large room and an almost horizontal corridor of about 100 meters with the floor covered with gours and ceilings with large stalactic blankets, flags, etc. We meet about 700 meters from the mouth. A new drop to a siphon (usually dry) allows the passage, also between blocks, rips, and narrow steps of about 300 meters of very accidental gallery that leads to the final room or the siphon. Large room with different possibilities of continuation.

The 60-meter-long siphon with a penetrable gap to 6 meters under water leads to a descending gallery that connects with a large cavity, circulated by an active river that spills its waters in the Valentine's Source (PB-1 and PB-5). Currently in exploration of spelologists. This succession of rooms is beautifully decorated by spelotems in various ways, among which are predominantly ceilings covered with stalactite stylized.

About a hundred meters from the mouth, a new succession of weeds return us to the theoretical level of water, changing the morphology of the cavity strongly. After several stretches and decreases the dimensions of the gallery increase. In this area the two possible entries to the Network of the Talegas are located (flooded sectors, Red Gallery, Sala Alicia, etc.). Continuing through the main gallery you can reach the Paso Javi, a small laminator that cuts a rock barrier (this step is very common to find it flooded), if it is under the waters, the pass is carried out by a strong ramp to the right of the pass, followed by a vertical - easy to overdo - descent that goes down to the level of the main gallery, after the Paso Javi. The continuation is obvious, just follow the gallery, yes, with some other narrowing and passage between blocks, until you reach the gallery of the Levels, easy to recognize by the calcite sidewalks that go through all the walls, blocks and other speleotems.

From here a new rebound between blocks and slices lead to the header of some scarves. A few meters before reaching them and on the left wall, several narrow steps are opened, between blocks, which reach the base of these scarves. It is entering the Cebra Gallery, thus called by the successive levels of floating calcite that have been fixed on the clay walls; corresponding to different flood stadiums.

Descripción
Descripción larga

The temple presents a simple, unique and wide-spaced Latin cross plant, with hornadine chapels, and with presbytery, on stands and chorus in high, also on stands. The main altar and chorus, as well as the sacristy and facade with contrasts in which the pétrea equestrian statue of Santiago Apostle stands out on the entrance door. The temple is characterized by a voluminous cimborrio, a slender tower and two similar design covers. The main feature is a relief of Santiago Matamoros in hornacina crowned with fronton. The courtyard has double gallery of half-point arches held by columns of Tuscan order. In a room annexed to the sacristy, liturgical ornaments, books from the Parish Register since its establishment from Trento, records of the school lobby, works and chorus books, rituals, objects of worship and other curiosities have been collected in a small museum.

Breve descripción

The architectural complex is composed of two perfectly differentiated parts: The Church and the College, the whole is of great sobriety and elegant proportions. Its foundation is due to Don Mendo Benavides, who commissioned the works to John and Alonso de Aranda and Salazar in 1642. He was raised to the rank of a collegiate by Pope Innocent XII.
